According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next major iPhone update, iOS 27, will pivot from flashy visuals to stability, speed, and broader artificial intelligence. Where iOS 26 delivered the Liquid Glass design and a wave of visible interface tweaks, Apple now appears to be prioritizing foundational improvements.
Gurman reports that the company is actively fixing accumulated bugs, accelerating the system, and reinforcing overall reliability. Apple also plans to notably expand AI across its built-in apps and services. Among the expected additions are a health-focused AI agent and an AI-powered web search tool.
Work is said to be ongoing on an improved chatbot called Veritas, intended to bolster Siri and plug into a wider Apple AI ecosystem. In parallel, the push for smarter features and greater stability is slated for the desktop side as well with macOS 27.
The first developer betas of iOS 27 and macOS 27 are expected in June next year, in keeping with the usual WWDC cadence. A shift toward solid fundamentals after a year of bold visual change could be a welcome reset, and smarter tools woven into everyday apps may prove more useful than another coat of paint.
