Nothing has officially outlined its rollout roadmap for Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16. The update has already started landing on the Nothing Phone 3—the brand’s first full-fledged flagship—and now there’s a clearer picture of when the new firmware will reach the rest of the lineup.
While the company hasn’t named exact dates, it has shared approximate windows that reveal the order of priority. All Nothing smartphones except the Phone 1 are set to receive Android 16 in the coming weeks, while the CMF range is slated to move to Nothing OS 4.0 closer to the end of the year. The last in line is the Nothing Phone 3a Lite, which is expected to be updated in early 2026. The staged approach makes the pecking order easy to follow.
Indicative schedule: next 1–2 weeks: Nothing Phone 3a, Nothing Phone 3a Pro, Nothing Phone 2, Nothing Phone 2a; second half of December: CMF Phone 2 Pro, CMF Phone 1; early 2026: Nothing Phone 3a Lite.
To check whether the update is available, go to Settings → System → System update. The download is roughly 3–5 GB, so make sure you have enough free storage and the battery is above 40%.
