ESRB M rating suggests Death Stranding 2 PC release is near

It looks like the PC release of Death Stranding 2 just moved much closer: the game has appeared in the ESRB database with an M (17+) rating. Showing up in the registry typically signals that work on the PC version is in its final stretch and that an official announcement could follow soon.

Death Stranding 2 is already being talked about as a leading Game of the Year contender. For now, the sequel is available only to PlayStation 5 owners, and it remains unclear when it will step beyond the console ecosystem. Even so, the fresh ESRB certification hints that a PC debut might arrive sooner than many expected—timing that hardly looks accidental.

The M rating reflects strong language in dialogue, Sam Porter Bridges being able to relieve himself in certain locations, and a number of visually intense cutscenes. All of that fits the series’ tone and came as no surprise to players.

With ESRB’s verdict in, many assume the PC port could be unveiled at The Game Awards on December 11. The first game launched on consoles in November 2019 and reached PC in the summer of 2020. If the schedule follows a similar pattern, Death Stranding 2 could land on PC around February–March 2026—a window that feels plausible given that pattern.

Fans of the original likely have little to worry about: the sequel is regarded as a logical, muscular evolution of the ideas laid down in the first installment. Ending exclusivity would only expand the audience. It is not out of the question that Hideo Kojima may consider an Xbox version in the future, though that would likely take longer. A wider rollout seems like the natural next step.
