Huawei FreeBuds 7i features, specs and price vs AirPods

Huawei has introduced the new FreeBuds 7i, blending a wallet-friendly price with features that usually belong to higher-end models. In China, they’re selling for 499 yuan—about $70—against a recommended price of 599 yuan, roughly $84. For context, AirPods 4 come in at around 999 yuan, or about $140. The earbuds are offered in gray, white, and pink.

The FreeBuds 7i support Bluetooth 5.4 and the AAC, LDAC, and L2HC 2.0 codecs, with the latter working on Huawei devices running HarmonyOS 3 or later. They use 11 mm drivers with a claimed 20 Hz to 40 kHz range and pack three microphones, including a bone-conduction mic to keep voice transmission crisp. There’s spatial audio on board and a 10-band equalizer, with Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification rounding out the audio credentials.

Battery life is rated at up to five hours with active noise cancellation switched on, and up to eight hours without it. The charging case adds three full recharges. The earbuds carry IP54 protection against dust and splashes and can connect to multiple devices at once.

Put together, Huawei offers something that not only undercuts AirPods on price but also edges them in several specs. On paper, the FreeBuds 7i look like an appealing pick for anyone who wants capable sound, modern features, and a sensible price tag.
