Huawei's new liquid-cooled case for Mate 80, 80 Pro and 80 Pro Max

Huawei has unveiled a new liquid-cooled case for the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, and Mate 80 Pro Max. The accessory arrives with an updated design and is priced at 299 yuan.

Unlike add-ons for earlier Mate generations, this version moves to a single-piece shell with the cooling system and a micro-pump built directly into the case. The more integrated approach is meant to help the phone keep lower temperatures during sustained heavy use—think gaming or other demanding apps.

The case is ultra-thin and transparent, and on the back there’s a “technology window” that reveals the closed-loop coolant circulation. A built-in high-precision module with a micro-pump, paired with a heat-absorbing layer, is designed to pull heat away faster and bring the phone’s temperature down. The visual touch reinforces the engineering at work without adding bulk.

An intelligent controller automatically switches cooling on and off based on the device’s temperature and what you’re doing, so there’s no need to tweak settings. Power comes via reverse wireless charging from the phone itself, which keeps cables out of the equation—a neat quality-of-life detail.

Made at Huawei’s own facilities, the accessory is tailored to match the phones precisely, including cutouts for the camera and controls, which should make the fit feel seamless.
