Stable Android 16 rolls out to Motorola Edge 50 Ultra

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is now receiving the stable Android 16 build. After a month of beta testing, the update is rolling out in stages under version W1UV36H.61-15 and weighs in at about 1.64 GB.

Launched on Android 14 and later updated to Android 15, the Edge 50 Ultra is now getting its second major OS upgrade with Android 16. One more big update is still expected, and security patches are slated to arrive at least through April 2028. That kind of roadmap should give owners some peace of mind about the phone’s lifespan.

Visually, the system remains largely familiar, but Motorola has added a handful of genuinely useful tools. There’s a flash alert for notifications, where the screen blinks for incoming alerts and calls. A notification cooldown option can tone down the frequency and volume from a specific app to curb spammy pings. Enhanced Protection brings an updated set of security tools. Custom Modes let you create profiles for different situations. One-tap Wi‑Fi makes it possible to connect without a password when devices share the same Google account. There’s also improved support for LE Audio. These aren’t flashy changes, but they read as practical quality-of-life tweaks that most people will notice day to day.
