Pixel 10’s Quick Share update is killing Wi‑Fi — here’s why

The long-awaited Quick Share update, which finally lets Android devices share files with iPhones via AirDrop, has become not only the week’s headline Android change but also a source of an irritating bug. Pixel 10 owners have noticed that simply opening the Quick Share menu can switch off Wi‑Fi.

According to user reports, Wi‑Fi may drop even when no files are being transferred. One Pixel owner said that with the sharing panel open, the list of available networks in settings would simply go blank.

Complaints have already surfaced on the Pixel Phone Help forum and in Google’s Issue Tracker. Then the situation veered into the absurd: a Pixel Phone Help expert closed the thread and redirected people to the Issue Tracker, where a Google representative labeled the problem as not fixable and sent users back to the forum.

In theory, Quick Share can temporarily disable Wi‑Fi during an active transfer, since the service relies on a direct Wi‑Fi link for faster sending. But cutting the connection just by opening the menu clearly looks like a bug. Some users say the issue disappears after removing the Quick Share Extension update, though that also removes AirDrop support — hardly a compromise many will accept.
