vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini: specs, cameras, battery and launch details

The vivo S50 lineup is steadily coming into focus. The company has been rolling out Weibo teasers that showcase a refreshed look for the upcoming vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini. The images highlight the reworked design and hint at some of the Pro Mini’s hardware. While the brand hasn’t explicitly named the launch day, a Weibo post says the series will be unveiled on December 15, effectively confirming the date.

According to insider reports, the Vivo S50 is set to feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The device also surfaced in the Geekbench database with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and up to 16 GB of RAM.

vivo has officially confirmed LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage for the phone, positioning it in the upper mid-range. It’s expected to offer a 50 MP front camera and a triple rear setup with a periscope telephoto using the 50 MP Sony IMX882 sensor. Rumors point to Android 16 with OriginOS 6 on board, plus 90 W fast charging. Color options are black, white, blue, and purple.

Unlike the standard model, the S50 Pro Mini has already been partially detailed officially. It will carry a 6.31-inch AMOLED screen, up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage. Powering it is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, putting the phone right on the edge of flagship territory.

The main camera revolves around a light-sensitive VCS sensor and includes a periscope Sony IMX882 alongside an ultra-wide. Up front, there’s a 50 MP camera with anti-distortion processing. A 6500 mAh battery supports 90 W wired and 40 W wireless charging. Extras include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner 2.0, IP68/IP69 protection, and crisper haptics courtesy of a linear motor.

Together, the two devices are shaping up to be one of vivo’s most compelling series of the season, with a clear push on imaging, stamina, and flagship-grade performance. On paper, the mix looks well balanced: serious camera hardware, a generous battery, and chips built for speed.
