AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D early benchmarks show clear gains

The first benchmark results for the new AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D have surfaced, and they point to a noticeable uptick in performance. An early sample spotted in the PassMark database scored 4,632 points in the single-core test and 41,840 in multi-threaded mode.

Compared to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, single-core performance lands about 5% higher, while multi-threaded gains reach roughly 4.7%. That said, with only one result available so far, it’s too early to treat these figures as definitive.

The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is part of the Zen 5 Granite Ridge lineup and offers 8 cores, 16 threads, 96 MB of L3 cache, a 120 W TDP, and boost clocks up to 5.6 GHz. On paper, it comes across as a higher-clocked take on the 9800X3D, with a clear focus on improved power efficiency and smarter frequency tuning.

AMD is expected to unveil the processor at CES 2026, and it may also showcase a more powerful model—the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2—about which almost nothing is known yet.
