Xiaomi has laid out its smartphone update plans for 2025. Owners of 31 models—including popular Redmi and POCO handsets and even Xiaomi 12-series flagships—will miss out on Android 16. For these devices, the final major update will be HyperOS 3, built on Android 15. Beyond that, they’ll receive only security patches and minor fixes.
Among the affected POCO devices are the C65, F5 5G, F5 Pro, M6 Pro, and X6 Neo, for which HyperOS 3 will be the last stop. On the Redmi side, Android 16 is off the table for budget models and several K and Note series phones, including the Redmi 12, 12 5G, 13C, K50 Ultra, K60, as well as various versions of the Note 12 and Note 13. Even high-end hardware like the Xiaomi 12 Pro, 12S Ultra, 12T Pro, MIX Fold 2, and Civi 3 has reached the end of major updates.
HyperOS 3 brings a refreshed interface with smoother animations, a reworked control center editor, and broader customization options. The rollout is set to begin in September 2025, giving these models a modern interface before support tapers off. The cutoff may sting, but this final upgrade still offers a tangible refresh—and a sensible moment to get the most out of these phones before considering a switch.
