Xiaomi Tag aims to be the most affordable UWB tracker for Android

Xiaomi is gearing up to enter the tracker market with Xiaomi Tag, a device that could become the most affordable UWB tag for Android. The launch is expected by late 2025, and the mere prospect is already stoking questions about how it might undercut Apple’s AirTag and Motorola’s Moto Tag.

The Xiaomi Tag is said to support UWB, enabling highly precise item location—akin to what AirTag offers. Leaks also indicate it will tap into Google’s global Find My Device network, which would keep the tag useful even when it strays beyond Bluetooth range.

Price is the big play. Xiaomi reportedly wants to bring the Tag to market below most rivals, which typically start at $25 and up. If that strategy holds, the company could jolt the “affordable” tracker category and finally give Android users a budget-friendly yet capable option—one that would likely nudge competitors to rethink their positioning.

The Xiaomi Tag is expected to debut on December 26, 2025, during the Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch event, where new Watch 5 and Buds 6 devices may also appear. According to leaks, the tracker is nearing the end of development, which hints at a coordinated rollout designed to expand Xiaomi’s ecosystem in one sweep.
