DJI Avata 360 retail box leak hints at a fast 360-degree drone launch

The race to build the first mass-market drone with a 360-degree view is picking up speed. No sooner had Insta360’s Antigravity brand unveiled the A1—billing it as the first consumer drone with an integrated 360 camera—than fresh leaks began hinting at a swift response from DJI.

Early chatter pointed to a device called Mini 360, but the pieces now align around a model named DJI Avata 360. Credible leaker Igor Bogdanov published a set of polished promo renders where that name appears in an official-looking context. Typically, images like these surface weeks or even months before a launch—as they did with the Avata 2. This time, the pace is noticeably faster: shortly after the renders, a photo of the Avata 360 retail box surfaced online.

Where the photo came from is unclear. Several X accounts shared essentially the same image, each with different filters and blurred areas—apparently to obscure metadata or sources. The box itself looks convincing, with DJI’s signature layout and familiar branding. Even so, as with any packaging leak, a well-made fake can’t be ruled out, so a measure of skepticism is still warranted.

That said, the near-simultaneous posts are hard to ignore. When identical images appear across multiple insiders within hours, it usually suggests real units have already been dispatched—to retailers, creators, or testers—ahead of an official reveal. The latest rumors say DJI plans to introduce the Avata 360 around December 23, just days after the Antigravity A1 debut. If that timeline holds, Insta360’s claim to the first mass-market panoramic drone may end up sharing holiday headlines with a far larger rival.

And if the box leak proves genuine, the Avata 360 could reach store shelves before year’s end. In that case, the story of the first 360 drone won’t be a quiet victory lap for the A1 but a full-on festive face-off. For buyers, the sensible move is to wait for official specifications and then decide which 360 drone fits their needs best.
