Nothing has addressed rumors about a supposed pause in the rollout of Nothing OS 4.0, saying the update is moving ahead as planned. The stable build, based on Android 16, began last month with the Nothing Phone (3), and by late November it started gradually reaching the Phone (2), Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro. Even so, many users still have not received the update, which has stirred frustration in the community.
Tension grew after a screenshot of a chat with Nothing support appeared on Reddit. It claimed the Nothing OS 4.0 deployment had been temporarily stopped because of critical bugs requiring urgent fixes. That post sparked a fresh wave of disappointment among device owners who have been waiting for weeks.
Nothing has now responded officially. In a comment to Android Authority, the company said there was no pause. Representatives explained that the brand always uses a phased rollout for major updates to identify and resolve potential issues, often linked to third-party apps. The message implicitly seeks to reassure users that the staggered pace is deliberate rather than a red flag.
The company also emphasized that Nothing OS 4.0 continues to reach all supported devices and that the process is on schedule. Users with questions or problems are advised to contact support directly. If the update still has not arrived, it is worth remembering that a staged rollout can take time, and you can check for it manually in Settings → System → System updates. In other words, patience remains the most practical approach.
