GameMT EX5: budget Android handheld with a 5-inch 1080p display, cloud gaming and a unique mode dial

GameMT has officially introduced its new budget handheld gaming device, the EX5. The look clearly nods to Sony’s PlayStation Vita, yet the company mixes in a few unexpected choices. The first glimpse came via a teaser on the Roybeila YouTube channel that showed the design and the basics of what it can do.

The EX5 uses a 5-inch IPS display with a 1920×1080 resolution, a spec that sets it apart from most low-cost handhelds. The device is built around a MediaTek Helio G81 made on a 12 nm process with two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, plus Mali-G52 MP2 graphics. It’s paired with 4 GB of memory and 64 GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card.

Running Android, the handheld is pitched as a do-it-all machine. The teaser states support for cloud gaming, native Android titles, and popular emulators such as ES-DE and Pegasus. Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 handles wireless connectivity across 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.

The control layout draws attention. The EX5 includes a D-pad, standard face buttons, triggers, and a single analog stick on the left. In place of a second stick on the right, GameMT installed a physical switch shaped like a mechanical dial for instant mode changes between Performance, Balanced, and Pwrsave-Auto. A similar style of selector appears on Ferrari sports-car steering wheels for the same task. The single-stick approach and hardware mode dial suggest a focus on simplicity over symmetry—an idea that could appeal to some players while puzzling others.

The EX5 will be available in white, black, and dark blue. Pricing and a release date are still under wraps, though GameMT says sales will start soon. For a budget handheld, the combination of a 1080p panel and flexible Android-based gaming already looks like a strong pitch.
