AYANEO has opened pre-registration for its NEXT 2 handheld, which it plans to sell through a crowdfunding campaign. Early sign-ups are promised bonuses and discounts, though the company is keeping the exact launch date, final configurations, and pricing under wraps for now. A pre-campaign page is already live, with full details said to be coming soon.
Billed as a flagship, the AYANEO NEXT 2 is built around an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU featuring 16 Zen 5 compute cores and Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. AYANEO says the device targets power consumption of up to 85 W and uses a cooling system with two fans and a high–fin-density heatsink—an assertive setup that underlines its high-end ambitions.
Up front sits a 9.06-inch OLED display at 2400×1504, with HDR support and refresh rates up to 165 Hz. Users can choose fixed modes at 60, 90, 120, 144, or 165 Hz. Power comes from an integrated 115 Wh battery, a capacity notably larger than what most handheld gaming devices offer today.
For controls, the NEXT 2 includes Hall-effect sticks and triggers along with trigger locks. There’s a “floating” eight-way D-pad, two touchpads, front-facing stereo speakers, and AYASpace software on board. Memory and storage configurations, as well as the console’s dimensions and weight, have yet to be disclosed, a reminder that some key pieces are still missing even as the pitch targets enthusiasts.
