The new iPhone 17 Air is hard to overlook. The device arrives in an ultra-slim 5.6 mm body, while the camera bump appears larger than on any Chinese handset. Unlike its direct rival, the Galaxy S25 Edge, the iPhone 17 Air sticks to a single 48 MP camera. Protection against physical damage has also been enhanced compared with last year’s models, aided by the use of titanium.
Under the hood sits Apple’s top-tier A19 Pro chip, which Apple promises delivers higher performance than its predecessors, including gains for both the GPU and the NPU. The company even compared its capabilities to a MacBook Pro—an ambitious benchmark that signals where Apple wants this device to play. This platform also paved the way for Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
There is a trade-off: the iPhone 17 Air carries the smallest battery capacity in the range. According to Apple representatives, it can run for up to a day, with no more precise figures shared. To soften that limitation, Apple is releasing a dedicated MagSafe-compatible power bank. The phone will be sold worldwide only with eSIM support, and it comes in black or white; for variety, Apple suggests leaning on branded cases. The single-camera choice looks deliberate—streamlined hardware and heavier reliance on processing, rather than a lens-count race.
