Apple unveils iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max with aluminum frame, A19 Pro and triple 48MP cameras

During its presentation, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Unlike last year’s models, the phones move to an aluminum frame, trimming weight in the process. They also adopt a reworked main camera array that now looks closer to the setup on Pixel smartphones. During the presentation, the added thickness and footprint were justified by an upgraded cooling system—a pragmatic trade-off that clearly favors sustained performance.

As expected, the devices feature the latest generation of Ceramic Shield used across the lineup, helping them withstand tougher use. Under the hood is the Apple A19 Pro chip, paired with support for Apple Intelligence, a new body color, and a vapor chamber for processor cooling that works in tandem with the aluminum frame. Battery life sets a record for iPhone—up to 39 hours of video playback.

The main camera on both models uses three 48-megapixel sensors, delivering unparalleled photo and video quality. AI is in the mix here as well. Compatibility is also stated with a proprietary accessory for Black Magic Camera.

All models ship with iOS 26 out of the box. The iPhone 17 Pro with 256 GB of storage is priced at $1,099, while the price of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has not yet been disclosed.
