Galaxy Z Flip 8 rumored with 2 nm Exynos 2600 and slimmer build

Samsung is reshaping its foldable playbook once again. According to insider reports, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 may be powered by the Exynos 2600, a 2 nm processor. If that holds, it would be the first clamshell foldable to run such an advanced chip.

The pivot to Exynos began with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the first in the series to ship without a Snapdragon. Until then, every Flip model since the original Z Flip in 2020 relied on Qualcomm silicon. The shift signals growing confidence in Samsung’s own chipmaking — even in premium devices where expectations are sky-high.

The Exynos 2600 was introduced only recently and is also expected in the Galaxy S26 and S26+. Sources say some Exynos-equipped S26 variants may be limited to select markets. For the Flip 8, however, Samsung is treating this chip as a cornerstone, emphasizing higher performance and better power efficiency — priorities that are critical for compact foldables.

Beyond the silicon, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may also arrive in a slimmer chassis. Leaks suggest Samsung plans to trim the thickness, using an approach similar to what it applied with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to debut in the summer, likely around July 2026, in line with previous launch timelines. Specifications are not yet official and could change, but sources converge on one point: Samsung is seriously considering Exynos as a long-term platform for the Flip line, and the strategy’s success will ultimately hinge on how the new 2 nm chip performs once the phone is out.
