Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Watch 5 at a presentation marking the renewal of its strategic cooperation with Leica and the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The watch is pitched as a flagship, full-featured smartwatch, priced at 1,999 yuan for the standard version and 2,299 yuan for the eSIM variant. Debuting alongside the Leica announcement and the 17 Ultra, it subtly underscores the company’s focus on a tightly aligned top-tier lineup.
The Watch 5 features a stainless-steel case with dual-sided synthetic sapphire glass and a 1.54-inch AMOLED display that reaches up to 1,500 nits, framed by ultrathin 2.6 mm bezels. Charging is handled via a contact port, and strap options span fluororubber and leather, plus a 3D-printed titanium option. The materials and choices signal a clear push toward durability and a more premium feel.
The headline feature is a dual-chip, dual-system design. A 4 nm Snapdragon W5 works alongside the power-efficient BES2800, enabling apps such as Alipay and maps to run directly on the watch. Battery life reaches up to six days in high-performance mode and up to 18 days in power-saving mode. The split setup appears aimed at striking a pragmatic balance between speed and stamina—an equilibrium many wearables struggle to achieve.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is also the brand’s first watch with an EMG sensor for reading muscle signals, used for advanced gesture control and interaction across Xiaomi’s ecosystem. The watch adds an ECG sensor, supports more than 150 sports modes, and brings an updated Super XiaoAI voice assistant that runs on-device. Taken together, these upgrades point to a more self-sufficient wearable that feels less tethered to the phone and more capable on its own.
