HKC unveils a 27-inch gaming monitor: 4K 200 Hz or FHD 800 Hz

Chinese company HKC has unveiled a unique gaming monitor already being billed as the first of its kind. The 27 inch model offers a dual mode: at 4K it runs at 200 Hz, and when switched to Full HD it climbs to a striking 800 Hz.

Until now, manufacturers have shown off extreme refresh rates mostly at low resolutions like 720p. HKC is taking a more practical route. For esports, 1080p still hits the sweet spot, and 800 Hz is a clear step up even against the 600 Hz screens that have begun to appear.

The headline feature is a proprietary fourfold frequency boost. Thanks to an in-house high-performance controller and a new panel, the monitor can flip between 4K at 200 Hz and FHD at 800 Hz with a single click. The company says the concept targets both everyday users and professional players, and the instant switching makes it feel useful rather than a spec-sheet stunt.

For now, HKC is keeping most technical details under wraps. The exact panel type remains unknown, while rivals chasing extreme refresh often opt for TN. Pricing is also an open question, and it could ultimately decide whether a niche idea finds a broader audience.

Despite lingering doubts about the real-world gains above 500 Hz, HKC’s newcomer has already grabbed attention and may help steer the next wave of gaming displays. More on specifications and pricing is expected soon.
