HyperOS 3 arrives on Android 15 for Xiaomi's older models

Xiaomi has begun rolling out the HyperOS 3 update based on Android 15, even to devices that have already hit their limit for major OS upgrades. The first builds are arriving through the Mi Pilot testing program on models such as the Redmi K60 series and the Xiaomi Pad 6 line, with more devices expected to follow.

For now, the update is limited to Chinese variants and intended for beta testers. The Redmi K family is officially sold only in China, though these models are known elsewhere under the POCO brand. Xiaomi has not shared an official rollout timetable or a complete list of compatible devices, but leaks and the company’s track record point to a fairly broad roster.

HyperOS 3 on Android 15 is a pared-back edition compared with the Android 16 build. Even so, it brings more than a hundred refinements touching animations, home-screen icons, blur effects, battery indicators, and overall interface smoothness. HyperIsland is integrated, and multitasking along with cross-device interactions within Xiaomi’s ecosystem has been polished.

The Android 15 version omits several features found in HyperOS 3 on Android 16 — including advanced security mechanisms, identity verification, a secure space, and AI tools to counter fraud. Still, the update delivers noticeable gains in performance and stability — a pragmatic trade-off that carries real weight for devices no longer receiving fresh Android versions.

Launching HyperOS 3 for ‘older’ models shows Xiaomi is maintaining support at the skin level even after the official OS upgrade window closes — a decision that quietly sets the company apart from rivals.
