The Redmi Turbo 5 series is closing in on launch and is already turning heads thanks to fresh details about its processors. A new leak points to next‑generation MediaTek silicon — the Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500e — which should deliver a clear step up in performance over the previous lineup.
Insiders indicate that the standard Redmi Turbo 5 will run on the Dimensity 8500, while the Turbo 5 Pro is set to use the more capable Dimensity 9500e. Neither chip has been officially announced yet, with their debut expected soon. For context, the last generation relied on the Dimensity 8400 and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
The Dimensity 8500 is expected to be built on TSMC’s 4 nm process with peak frequencies up to 3.4 GHz. The higher‑end Dimensity 9500e may move to a 3 nm process, pair it with stronger graphics, and push clocks up to 3.73 GHz. On paper, that positioning could make the Turbo 5 family one of the most powerful options in its class.
The phones are tipped to feature 1.5K LTPS OLED displays and metal bodies. An ultrasonic fingerprint reader is also mentioned, a notable upgrade over earlier models. Battery life looks to be a priority too: the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro may carry a 9000 mAh battery with 100 W fast charging, while the standard model is said to include an 8000 mAh pack with the same charging speed. Both devices have already cleared 3C certification, suggesting the launch isn’t far off.
The lineup’s unveiling is expected in China in January or early February. Globally, the devices will likely arrive under the POCO brand, continuing Xiaomi’s familiar strategy.
