Samsung has begun the official rollout of One UI 8 for Galaxy S25 series smartphones. After several months of beta testing, owners of the company’s flagships are receiving the first of seven major OS releases built on Android 16 — a long-awaited step that arrives quietly but decisively.
Eight months after the Galaxy S25 launched, users can now move to the new system. It remains unclear whether the Galaxy S25 Edge is covered yet, though the expectation is that it will receive One UI 8 by the end of the month. The pace feels measured rather than rushed.
South Korea is first in line. For the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the update weighs about 555 MB. For now, access is limited to members of the beta program, with a broader release set to follow shortly — a sensible, staged start.
While Samsung typically doesn’t share a precise regional roadmap, a global rollout of One UI 8 is expected in the coming days. In other words, the wait should be brief.
