Xiaomi is preparing to shake up the compact flagship market with its upcoming Xiaomi 16 Pro, a device that insiders believe could take on the iPhone 17 Pro and Google Pixel 10 Pro head-to-head. According to well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, the phone will feature a 6.3-inch display, the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, and a 6,300 mAh battery — a combination aimed at delivering both speed and staying power.
Cameras are set to be a defining part of the experience. The main sensor is said to come in at 50 megapixels with a large 1/1.28-inch format, supported by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope telephoto. This trio could make the Xiaomi 16 Pro one of the most compelling options for photography enthusiasts who don’t want to compromise on size when choosing a high-end device.
The official debut of the Xiaomi 16 lineup is expected toward the end of September, right after Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit, scheduled for September 23–25. Reports suggest Xiaomi will unveil several models, with the compact Pro version designed to appeal to those seeking premium performance in a smaller form factor.
Still, one question looms large: will the Xiaomi 16 Pro make it beyond China’s borders? Historically, the company has reserved its Pro variants for the domestic market, leaving international fans waiting in vain. Should Xiaomi decide to break tradition this year, the 16 Pro could become a serious contender in the global market for compact premium smartphones.
