Xiaomi is lining up a heavyweight flagship for 2026 — the Xiaomi 17 Max. The handset features a flat 6.9-inch AMOLED display that can reach up to 3,500 nits and uses an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Its metal body carries IP68/IP69 protection and a minimalist camera array, signaling a focus on durability with a clean, understated look.
The showpiece is an 8,000 mAh battery squeezed into a body about 8 mm thick thanks to silicon-carbon anodes. Charging comes in fast either way: 100 W by wire and 50 W wirelessly. On paper, that blend of capacity and speed points to longer stretches away from an outlet without the usual battery anxiety.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. A roomier interior is leveraged to cool the battery via a redesigned vapor chamber. Xiaomi 17 Max runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and is presented as delivering stable performance for day-to-day use and gaming. The thermal setup reads like a bid to keep sustained performance in check when workloads spike.
Xiaomi plans to launch the 17 Max in China in the second quarter of 2026. The base version is expected to cost about $630, while the Max model is set at $850–900. The phone is positioned as the first 6.9-inch flagship with a flat screen and a battery built for several days of use.
