Samsung is moving quickly to bring its new One UI 8 interface, built on Android 16, to a wide range of devices. The software debuted earlier this month alongside the latest foldables — Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE — and is already available in beta form for select models.
According to the rollout plan, the Galaxy S24, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6 will join the One UI 8 beta program next week. By September, testing will extend to the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and several models from the Galaxy A series.
Industry sources suggest the stable release will begin in late September with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. By year’s end, all compatible devices are expected to receive the update. As usual, Samsung is prioritizing its flagship S and Z series before bringing One UI 8 to mid-range Galaxy A models.
This accelerated schedule has been made possible by Google’s trunk-based development approach for Android 16. The method streamlines the development cycle, allowing Samsung to shorten adaptation times for One UI 8.
Samsung is also shifting its update strategy. Major One UI versions will now arrive each summer, timed with the release of new Galaxy Z foldables. Meanwhile, Galaxy S models will start receiving «.5» versions featuring additional refinements. The company has already confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S26, set for early 2026, will debut with One UI 8.5.
