Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 brings stability and performance fixes

Google has released Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 for Pixel smartphones and tablets, marking one of the most significant interim updates in recent memory. The company describes this as a major step forward aimed at improving system stability, performance, and usability, with early feedback confirming that work has focused on addressing genuinely troublesome issues.

In this new beta version, Google has concentrated on eliminating system crashes and freezes that in some cases led to device reboots. Power management has been substantially overhauled, with fixes for bugs that caused phones to ignore charging limits, discharge overnight, or consume excessive background power. Users should also notice more reliable performance with both wired and wireless charging.

Special attention has been paid to connectivity and multimedia. Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 resolves issues with slow Wi-Fi and missed incoming calls, while switching to speakerphone during calls has become faster and more responsive. Crashes when working with radio settings have been fixed, along with errors that caused Android Auto to incorrectly track screen time, unnecessarily draining the battery.

The system interface has become noticeably smoother. The update eliminates stuttering and graphical artifacts in the notification shade, responsiveness problems with app menus, and screen flickering when exiting Always-On Display mode. Owners of foldable Pixels have received fixes that prevent system crashes when closing the device with apps running.

Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 is already available for a wide range of Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 6 series and extending to the Pixel 10 lineup. Although this remains a test version, the update suggests that the final QPR3 release could become one of the most polished Android updates in recent years.
