MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor for mid-range smartphones

MediaTek has unveiled the new Dimensity 8500 processor for mid-range smartphones. According to official manufacturer data, the chip is built on TSMC's 4-nanometer process and features an architecture where all eight cores are based on Cortex-A725 but operate at different frequencies. MediaTek states this approach delivers more stable performance under load compared to the previous generation.

MediaTek also emphasizes that the Dimensity 8500 provides approximately 7% CPU performance improvement and supports faster LPDDR5X memory. The most significant changes, per MediaTek data, affect the graphics: the new Mali-G720 MC8 accelerator promises up to 25% peak graphics performance increase while reducing power consumption.

The manufacturer separately highlights the platform's gaming potential. MediaTek information indicates the processor can maintain high, stable frame rates even in demanding conditions and is the first in its segment to support ray tracing. Additional energy-saving technologies, the company claims, reduce power usage during gameplay.

Furthermore, the Dimensity 8500 description lists support for modern AI functions, including local generative task processing, enhanced camera capabilities, and advanced networking technologies. All these specifications and performance metrics are based on official MediaTek data and may vary in actual devices depending on smartphone manufacturers' implementations.
