Google Pixel 10 series debuts advanced cooling with Tensor G5

The Google Pixel 10 series introduces a more advanced cooling system, though not every model benefits equally. According to the company, the standard Pixel 10 relies on a graphite thermal plate, while the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are equipped with full vapor chamber cooling.

Exact specifications of these vapor chambers remain undisclosed, but it is considered unlikely that their size has increased compared to the Pixel 9 Pro lineup. The real difference-maker is expected to be the new Tensor G5 processor, manufactured for the first time by TSMC using a 3nm process. This shift is designed to reduce heat output significantly, and when combined with improved cooling, could minimize overheating issues across the series.

For the base Pixel 10, the move to the new chip should still bring a noticeable improvement over the Pixel 9, which lagged behind its Pro counterpart in thermal management. Even so, experts anticipate that the Pro models will maintain a clear edge in sustained performance under heavier workloads.

How well these solutions perform in practice will only become clear once the first reviews and benchmarks are released in the near future.
