Xiaomi launches HyperOS 3 Beta — Join the Mi Pilot Testing Program

Xiaomi is preparing to roll out the beta version of HyperOS 3, giving users the chance to try the system before its official release. Those interested can sign up through the Mi Pilot Beta Testing program, which requires following a few specific steps with care.

The first step is to install the Mi Community app, available via Google Play or Xiaomi’s own GetApps store. After logging in, it’s important to ensure the region is set to «Global,» otherwise access to the program may be restricted. Within the «ME» section of the app, a Beta testing tab will appear. Here, the system automatically detects your device model and shows available test programs. If your smartphone is supported, an Apply button becomes visible.

Submitting an application involves filling out a short form and completing a simple quiz. Scores of 60 or higher increase the likelihood of being accepted. Applicants are also asked to state why they want to join the testing program before sending in the request. The review process usually takes up to a week, and the application status can be tracked directly in the Mi Community app. If accepted, the status changes to «Passed.»

Once approved, the next step is waiting for the update to arrive. It may take several days, so users can also check manually under Settings > About phone > HyperOS. However, Xiaomi warns that beta builds can be unstable: errors, crashes, and even data loss are possible. For this reason, the company advises installing the beta on a secondary device and always creating a full backup beforehand. Ensuring the battery is charged and sufficient storage is available is also essential for a smooth installation.

In some cases, applicants may see a message saying «No data found.» This usually means either the device is no longer supported or that the testing program is not currently accepting participants for that model. In such situations, the only option is to wait for the next round. Even those who previously took part in MIUI beta testing need to submit a fresh application for HyperOS.

For users who succeed, joining the beta program is more than just early access to HyperOS features. It’s also a chance to contribute to Xiaomi’s ecosystem by helping identify issues and improve the software—ultimately shaping the final version that will reach millions of devices worldwide.
