Honor has officially unveiled the Magic8 Pro Air smartphone, a flagship device that prioritizes minimal thickness, light weight, and uncompromised performance. According to the company, it's the lightest premium smartphone in their lineup. The device continues the trend of ultra-thin flagships set by the Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air, but Honor focuses on a more practical balance between design, battery life, and camera capabilities.
The Honor Magic8 Pro Air weighs just 155 grams, with a body thickness of 6.1 mm. These dimensions place it among the thinnest flagship models on the market. It features a 6.31-inch OLED display with record-narrow bezels of 1.08 mm on all sides. This format targets users who value compactness and lightness without switching to mid-range devices.
The back panel has a metallic satin finish created using a multi-layer technology that Honor compares to automotive paint. The smartphone will be available in Fairy Purple, Light Orange, Feather White, and Shadow Black colors. An aluminum frame, according to the manufacturer, ensures increased structural rigidity despite the ultra-thin body.
At the heart of the Honor Magic8 Pro Air is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. Despite its minimal thickness, the smartphone is equipped with a 5500 mAh battery—significantly larger than most devices of comparable size. It supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The battery energy density is stated at 917 Wh/L, though actual battery life will depend on usage.
The Magic8 Pro Air's camera system includes three modules: a 50 MP main sensor (1/1.3") with optical image stabilization, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 112-degree field of view, and a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom. Honor separately highlights an AI-controlled flash system that automatically adjusts brightness based on zoom level, as well as a new portrait mode with a stroboscopic effect for improved low-light photography.
The smartphone features IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, support for physical SIM and eSIM, and a display with a peak brightness of up to 6000 nits.
Sales of the Honor Magic8 Pro Air are scheduled to begin on January 23, 2026. Pricing is as follows: 12 GB + 256 GB for 4,999 yuan (~$717), 12 GB + 512 GB for 5,299 yuan (~$760), 16 GB + 512 GB for 5,599 yuan (~$803), and 16 GB + 1 TB for 5,999 yuan (~$860).
