Playground Games officially unveiled Forza Horizon 6 during the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 event. The new installment of the iconic racing series takes players to Japan and is set to launch on May 19, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. A PlayStation 5 version is confirmed, but it will arrive later, after the release on Microsoft platforms.
The main innovation in Forza Horizon 6 is a reimagined career start. Players no longer begin as festival stars; instead, they start as ordinary tourists taking their first steps into the Horizon world. According to the developers, this approach makes the game more human and accessible, appealing not only to motorsport fans but also to those who simply enjoy the journey toward a big goal.
The action unfolds in Japan, which features the largest map in the series' history. The developers promise record-breaking verticality in the landscape, the biggest urban area ever seen in Forza Horizon, and a variety of roads where every route leads to discovery. The environment will play a key role in world exploration and the sense of progression.
At launch, players will have access to the largest car collection in the series' history—550 vehicles—alongside an updated system for owning garages and homes. For the first time, building and developing your own valley will be a fully multiplayer process: friends can help each other expand their spaces and showcase achievements.
The game is rated 12+.
