Casio has unveiled an unusual digital watch called the M-Edition, with a design that clearly pays homage to the legendary Leica M rangefinder cameras. Developed in collaboration with UK photography retailer PPP Cameras, this model stands out noticeably from the brand's standard offerings.
The watch is based on the popular Casio AE-1200WH series but features a significantly redesigned exterior. The main visual highlight is a red circular window in the top-left corner of the dial, directly reminiscent of Leica's signature red dot. The display backlight is also red, echoing the exposure meter indicators of classic Leica M cameras. Completing the look are a leather strap inspired by camera leather trim and a metal case.
The Casio M-Edition comes in silver and black colorways. The black version features an inverted display with white characters on a dark background. Functionally, it remains typical for Casio, offering four time zones, five alarms, a stopwatch, a timer, water resistance up to 10 ATM, and a claimed battery life of up to ten years.
PPP Cameras is handling sales of the Casio M-Edition in the UK. The watch is priced at 150 British pounds, with potential additional costs for shipping and import when ordering to other European countries.
