Sennheiser has launched the new RS 275 TV headphone kit, which includes the proprietary BTA1 digital transmitter with Auracast support. Designed for home TV viewing, the system transmits audio with minimal delay over distances up to 50 meters, while also making the audio signal available to other compatible devices—from headphones to hearing aids and wireless speakers.
The kit's key feature is its use of Auracast technology, effectively turning the transmitter into a Bluetooth broadcast audio source. The BTA1 creates a local audio channel that any Auracast or classic Bluetooth-enabled device can connect to, making the system convenient for shared, wireless viewing without complex setup.
The RS 275 headphones themselves are built for extended use. Sennheiser claims up to 50 hours of battery life on a single charge, and the headphones can be recharged directly via the receiver's USB-C port. The design features replaceable earpads and a replaceable battery, which should extend the device's lifespan and enhance comfort for daily use.
Additional functionality comes via the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app. Through it, users can customize sound profiles, channel balance, transparency mode, select audio modes based on content type, and use a find-my-headphones feature in case of misplacement.
The Sennheiser RS 275 kit with the BTA1 receiver is priced at $300, while the transmitter alone will sell for $130. Pre-orders begin on February 3, with the first shipments expected from February 17.
