According to new leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will indeed feature a smaller Dynamic Island. Insider Ice Universe claims the cutout will be roughly 35% narrower compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. If its current width is about 20.7 mm, the next generation will shrink it to approximately 13.5 mm, making the front of the screen noticeably cleaner.
Previously, The Information reported that Apple might fully transition to an under-display Face ID, leaving only a front camera hole in the top-left corner. However, fresh data points to a more cautious move: only the Face ID infrared illuminator will move under the screen, while the remaining sensors will stay in a smaller, pill-shaped cutout. This means the Dynamic Island won't disappear entirely but will become more compact.
Display expert Ross Young, who has often proven knowledgeable about supply chains, believes the smaller Dynamic Island will stick around at least until 2027. In his view, a completely "clean" screen without any cutouts won't appear on the iPhone for several more generations.
Ice Universe has accurately revealed future iPhone dimensions multiple times, though his predictions don't always pan out. Officially, Apple isn't commenting on the leaks, as usual. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in September, when we'll see how these details match reality.
