Garmin has introduced the Approach J1, the brand's first smartwatch designed specifically for young golfers. The new device is now available worldwide and is tailored for children and teenagers. It features a compact and lightweight case that fits comfortably on smaller wrists and doesn't interfere during play.
The watch offers a set of functions adapted for beginner players. The interface is simplified, with a clear game pace timer and stroke tips that account for a child's skill level. Users can also receive club selection recommendations and see animations for successful actions. Scores are recorded directly on the watch and automatically sync with the Garmin Golf app. The device comes preloaded with data for over 43,000 golf courses worldwide.
The Approach J1 isn't just for golf. It can track walking, running, and cycling using GPS, and performs basic smartwatch functions like step counting, alarm, timer, and stopwatch.
The model is equipped with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390×390 pixels and support for an always-on mode. In normal use, the battery lasts up to 10 days, and with active GPS usage, it lasts up to 15 hours. Two color options with ComfortFit textile straps are available: blue-black and silver-purple.
Sales of the Garmin Approach J1 begin on January 23. The recommended price is $299.99 in the U.S., £309.99 in the U.K., and €349 in Europe.
