Sennheiser launches new USB-C headphones for modern devices

Sennheiser has officially unveiled two new wired models, the CX 80U and HD 400U, updating the popular CX 80S and HD 400S to meet modern connectivity demands. The key change is the switch to USB-C, which enables direct digital audio transmission with lossless quality and minimal latency. These headphones support audio playback up to 24-bit and 96 kHz, allowing Sennheiser's signature sound to shine when connected to smartphones, tablets, portable gaming consoles, and computers.

According to company representatives, the CX 80U and HD 400U are designed for users who value a plug-and-play experience without compromising on quality. The use of USB-C eliminates the need for external adapters, while the built-in remote with a microphone makes the models convenient not just for music, but also for calls, video conferences, and everyday app use.

The full-size HD 400U continues the philosophy of the HD 400S, focusing on rich bass and effective passive noise isolation thanks to its closed-back design. This model is aimed at home and study use, with a foldable construction, detachable cable, and carrying case simplifying transport. Inside, a MEMS microphone ensures clear voice transmission even in noisy environments.

In contrast, the CX 80U is tailored for those who prefer the compact format of in-ear headphones. It offers balanced yet energetic sound and comes with interchangeable ear tips for a secure fit. Thanks to USB interface compatibility, both new models work seamlessly with iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and SteamOS.

The CX 80U is already available for around $40, while the HD 400U is priced at approximately $100.
