OPPO Reno 16 series: leaks reveal specs and features

The first details about the upcoming OPPO Reno 16 series have started to emerge just months after the Reno 15 launched in China. While there's no official announcement yet, leaks indicate the company is already actively testing the new generation of smartphones, meaning the main hardware decisions are likely already set. If OPPO sticks to its usual six-month update cycle, the Reno 16 could be unveiled around May.

According to insider Digital Chat Station, the Reno 16 lineup will continue using flat displays in several sizes. The company is expected to maintain the same strategy as with the Reno 15, offering a compact version with a screen around 6.32 inches and a larger model at approximately 6.78 inches.

Once again, the camera will be a key focus. Reports suggest the Reno 16 will feature a 200-megapixel main camera as standard, along with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. On paper, the resolution stays the same as the previous generation, but OPPO might use a more modern sensor and improve photo quality through new image processing technologies.

Inside, the device is expected to house a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, which will serve as the foundation for performance and energy efficiency in the new series. This choice highlights the Reno 16's orientation toward balanced power in the mid-range segment rather than pushing flagship limits.

In terms of design, OPPO is rumored to focus on a metal frame, symmetrical thin bezels around the screen, and an extremely lightweight body. The company aims to keep the Reno line as thin and user-friendly smartphones, prioritizing comfort in daily use.
