Caviar has launched a new Black Edition collection for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, bringing back the iconic black color in a premium format after Apple discontinued the classic option in the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. While Apple itself has focused on new shades like Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue, Caviar is offering fans a sleek black aesthetic—but with luxurious materials and limited availability.
The collection includes four versions: Black is Back, Shadow, Spark, and Obsidian Black Edition. All models feature a matte finish made from aerospace-grade titanium, with a crocodile leather insert on the lower part of the device. The deep black hue is achieved through anodizing and PVD coating, which not only mimics the look of the previous Titanium Black but also enhances durability.
The base model, Black is Back, aims for a minimalist style, offering a modern take on the classic black iPhone. Shadow takes minimalism further with a fully monochrome appearance, down to the decorative screws. Spark adds contrast with 24-karat gold details, including gold-plated elements and screws, catering to buyers who value boldness and status.
The flagship of the line is the Obsidian Black Edition, distinguished by its richer black tone and marketed as a symbol of power and luxury. Production is limited to just 19 units each for Black is Back, Shadow, and Spark, while Obsidian will have 99 units. All devices come in collector's packaging with an owner's coin and a gold-plated Caviar key.
Pricing for the Black Edition starts at $9,130 for Black is Back, with Spark beginning at $9,840, and Shadow and Obsidian priced from $10,410. Pre-orders opened on January 28 on Caviar's official website, underscoring that this collection targets collectors and ultra-luxury enthusiasts.
