Apple MacBook Pro M6 OLED models set for 2026 release

Apple plans to launch updated MacBook Pro models with M6 chips and OLED displays in the fourth quarter of 2026, though the release could face delays due to panel production. Samsung, the sole supplier of OLED displays for the new MacBook, has not yet begun mass production, despite earlier reports of an accelerated start. The A6 production line will be dedicated exclusively to 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro M6 models, with production expected to start in May, according to The Elec.

Meanwhile, some components for the new laptops are still being refined, which relates to efforts to reduce costs. Apple is redesigning parts to cut expenses, particularly amid a DRAM shortage that has already complicated supply in the first half of 2026. Samsung plans to deliver the first batches of OLED panels to Foxconn by the third quarter.

The Korean company is also investing 4.1 trillion won (approximately $2.83 billion) in 8.6-generation OLED production, with a capacity of up to 15,000 sheets per month. This investment should support Apple and other potential clients. The new MacBook Pro M6 models with OLED displays and a redesigned look are likely to be more expensive than their predecessors, but they will offer improved screens and touch controls.
