Sony has officially confirmed an upcoming announcement for new premium wireless earbuds. The company released a teaser that strongly hints at the long-awaited WF-1000XM6. The presentation is scheduled for February 12, and the video already gives a first look at the updated design.
In the short clip, Sony refers to the "next generation of earbuds" without naming the model directly, but the shown outlines perfectly match previously leaked images of the WF-1000XM6. This will be the first major update to the lineup since the WF-1000XM5, affecting both the internals and the appearance.
Based on leaks, Sony is moving away from the familiar rounded shape toward a more elongated, capsule-like design for the earbuds themselves. The charging case will also change, becoming more angular with flat top and bottom surfaces. This redesign could be related to both ergonomics and improved acoustics.
Sony is expected to focus heavily on active noise cancellation and transparency mode. This is hinted at by the addition of an extra microphone grille, bringing the total to four microphones per earbud. Rumors also suggest three color options, though only two have been confirmed so far.
According to preliminary data, the WF-1000XM6 will be priced at $329.99 in the US and €299.99 in Europe, making them more expensive than AirPods Pro and the upcoming Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. Sony is clearly targeting the premium segment, and on February 12, it will become clear whether the company can surprise with not just sound and ANC, but genuinely new features.
