Xiaomi continues to surprise the automotive market, preparing an extreme version of its electric crossover. Chinese regulator MIIT's database reveals the Xiaomi YU7 GT—a nearly thousand-horsepower electric SUV that elevates the brand's lineup to a new level.
While the standard YU7 is already considered a fast family EV, the GT version transforms it into a true supercar rival. Its dual electric motors deliver a combined 738 kW, equivalent to about 990 horsepower. For comparison, the top-tier YU7 Max caps at 681 horsepower. The GT's front motor produces 288 kW, with the rear generating an impressive 450 kW, providing all-wheel drive and a claimed top speed of 300 km/h.
Official acceleration figures aren't available yet, but given that the YU7 Max hits 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, experts estimate the GT version could achieve it in around 2 seconds. That's hypercar territory, packaged in a five-seat crossover. The car has grown slightly larger than the standard model due to more aggressive bumpers, while keeping a 3000 mm wheelbase and gaining a rugged black appearance.
The YU7 GT weighs 2460 kg, and to handle that power, Xiaomi equipped it with wide 21-inch wheels and sporty staggered tires. A CATL traction battery supplies the energy. Externally, the GT is identifiable by red brake calipers, a massive rear diffuser, and expanded customization options.
Preliminary estimates suggest the Xiaomi YU7 GT will cost between 450,000 and 500,000 yuan in China. That's significantly more than the base YU7 but looks highly competitive against European rivals with similar power. Currently focused on the domestic market, given Xiaomi's ambitions, this electric monster might eventually appear outside China.
