The company has unveiled the AI Pyramid Computing Box (AX8850) – a compact mini-PC designed specifically for artificial intelligence tasks. At its core is an eight-core Axera AX8850 chipset with Cortex-A55 cores and a built-in neural processing unit (NPU) delivering 24 TOPS of power. This setup enables local image analysis and the ability to run smaller AI models without relying on cloud services.
In terms of connectivity, the mini-PC comes equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports supporting 4K resolution, three USB 3.0 ports, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. For storage, it features 32 GB of built-in eMMC memory, while a small display shows basic information like the device's IP address. A notable design element is the RGB lighting system, which uses 48 LEDs on the casing to create dynamic lighting effects. The device also includes active cooling, a built-in microphone, and a speaker, expanding its potential for voice input and interactive applications.
The mini-PC is available for order on AliExpress and directly from the manufacturer, starting at $199. The base version with 4 GB of RAM may struggle with demanding AI workloads, but it offers sufficient capability for basic image analysis and local experimentation.
Overall, the AI Pyramid AX8850 combines compact size, RGB effects, and computational power, presenting an intriguing option for users looking to work with artificial intelligence locally.
