Full technical specifications for Sony's upcoming WF-1000XM6 wireless earbuds have leaked online ahead of their official announcement scheduled for February 12. This gives us an early look at what changes Sony has prepared for the new generation of its flagship model. The source is insider Billbil-kun, who has built a reputation for accurate leaks in the past. Earlier, details about colors and initial retailer information had surfaced, but now the key technical upgrades are out in the open.
The main upgrade is the QN3e processor. According to the leak, it's roughly three times more powerful than the chip used in the WF-1000XM5. This new processor works alongside eight adaptive microphones, which should significantly boost the stability and effectiveness of active noise cancellation.
Sony has also revamped the audio hardware. The WF-1000XM6 features a new driver, an improved digital-to-analog converter, and a more powerful amplifier. All of this aims to enhance sound detail and clarity. The earbuds support Hi-Res Wireless via LDAC, DSEE Extreme sound upscaling, and advanced equalizer settings.
Design changes are part of the package too. The earbuds have a refined shape with better ventilation and new isolated ear tips for a more comfortable fit. On the software side, they include 360 Reality Audio with head tracking and an intelligent ambient sound mode with multiple profiles.
Battery life is rated at up to 8 hours on a single charge, with the case providing an additional 16 hours. Fast charging and wireless charging are both supported. The earbuds are IPX4 water-resistant and work with the Sony Sound Connect app on Android and iOS.
The official presentation of the WF-1000XM6 is expected on February 12, where Sony is set to confirm all specifications and reveal the price.
