FiiO Snowsky Disc: a compact hi-res audio player for wired headphones

FiiO has unveiled the compact Snowsky Disc audio player, targeting enthusiasts of high-quality sound and wired headphones. The device is remarkably small—its square body measures less than 7 cm per side, easily fitting into a pocket, and weighs only about 77 grams.

Running on a custom Linux version, the Snowsky Disc supports Hi-Res Audio playback, including DSD128 and PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz. For headphone connections, it offers both a classic 3.5-mm jack and a balanced 4.4-mm output, appealing to owners of more demanding models. The claimed audio specs are impressive: signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 129 dB, with distortion below 0.0003%.

This player isn’t just for standalone use. Via USB-C, it can connect to a computer as an external sound card and also work with external DACs and amplifiers. There’s a coaxial output for integrating into a home audio system, plus support for AirPlay and Roon for wireless music streaming around the house.

Control is handled through a 1.8-inch touchscreen that displays a "spinning compact disc" effect during album playback. Music is stored on a microSD card with capacity up to 2 TB, and the built-in 1,450 mAh battery provides roughly 12 hours of listening without recharging. The new device costs just $88.
