Audio-Technica Japan has unveiled a limited edition of its ATH-WP900SE over-ear headphones, crafted from solid ash wood and finished with a three-color lacquer coating developed by guitar manufacturer Fujigen. Designed specifically for detailed and pure reproduction of string instruments, particularly guitars, these headphones aim to deliver exceptional audio clarity.
The ear cups are made from a single piece of ash wood, with the finish applied by hand in Fujigen's signature "sunburst" pattern—a design familiar to guitar enthusiasts. According to Audio-Technica, this construction contributes to a warm, precise, and balanced sound profile.
At the heart of the ATH-WP900SE are 53mm dynamic drivers featuring acoustic ports and ventilation holes, optimized to capture the nuances of string performances. The headphones boast a frequency range of 5 Hz to 50 kHz, a sensitivity of 98 dB/mW, an impedance of 37 ohms, and a maximum input power of 1000 mW.
For extended listening comfort, the headband and ear pads are equipped with memory foam padding covered in synthetic leather. The ear cups fold for easy transport, and a protective case is included. These headphones support connections to both guitar amplifiers and digital audio players. The package includes a 1.2-meter unbalanced A2DC 3.5mm cable and a balanced A2DC 4.4mm cable, with the overall weight coming in at 235 grams.
This limited edition model is available for pre-order on Audio-Technica's Japanese online store at a price of 110,000 yen (approximately $750). Sales are set to begin on February 20, 2026.
