Ferrari has unexpectedly pulled back the curtain on what the ill-fated Apple Car might have looked like. The Italian marque has unveiled Luce — its first electric vehicle — with the interior and interface design heavily influenced by Jony Ive's LoveFrom studio. Ive, Apple's former chief design officer, played a key role in shaping these elements.
The cabin images released by Ferrari instantly evoke Apple's ecosystem. The minimalist graphics, distinctive typography, and focus on digital controls appear as if lifted straight from Cupertino's design concepts. However, some control panels seem more cluttered with elements than one might expect from Ive, who is renowned for his pursuit of visual purity.
Officially, Ferrari states only that LoveFrom worked on "key interface components," without specifying the exact scope of their involvement. It remains unclear whether Ive's influence was limited to software or extended to physical elements like the steering assembly, key docking station, and striking overhead control panel. The company is keeping the car's exterior under wraps for now — the Luce's body will be revealed only at the full premiere in May.
Interestingly, Ferrari is accompanying the Luce announcement with a documentary film that briefly features Jony Ive himself. Against the backdrop of recent admissions about the Apple Car project — shelved about two years ago — the Luce appears as a sort of echo of that idea. Many concepts that never saw daylight at Apple seem to have found new life, but now under the Ferrari emblem and in a far more exclusive segment.
