ASUS ROG Kithara gaming headset: high-quality audio for gamers

ASUS has launched the new ROG Kithara gaming headset, targeting users with high demands for audio quality. Priced at around $299, the model is now available and stands out with unusually large 100mm Hifiman planar magnetic drivers—a feature rarely seen in the gaming segment.

The manufacturer claims a frequency response range from 8 Hz to 55 kHz, which notably exceeds the standard specs of most gaming headsets. According to ASUS, the device provides clear separation of low, mid, and high frequencies, enhancing spatial sound perception. The open-back design offers a more natural soundstage, but it lacks active noise cancellation, meaning external sounds will be audible.

The headset features a detachable microphone based on MEMS technology, with a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Connectivity is handled via a dual 3.5mm jack, and the package includes a balanced 4.4mm plug, a 6.3mm adapter, and a USB Type-C adapter, ensuring broad compatibility with PCs, consoles, and mobile devices. In a nod to audiophile tradition, the box displays a frequency response graph for these headphones.

ROG Kithara boasts a metal frame and reinforced hinges for increased durability, along with an adjustable headband and replaceable ear cushions. The signal-to-noise ratio is 74 dB. Weighing about 425 grams, the headset lacks a folding design and does not come with a carrying case.
