Samsung is gearing up to release its first XR headset, developed under Project Moohan together with Google. According to South Korean outlet NewsWorks, the device will be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on September 29, 2025, and will go on sale in South Korea on October 13. Availability will expand to other countries over time.
Samsung’s XR headset will come in below Apple’s Vision Pro: the price is set between 2.5 and 4 million won, roughly $1,800–$2,000. By contrast, the Vision Pro was sold at a higher price last year, with sales reaching 224,000 units. Samsung aims to move about 100,000 devices by the end of 2025. The price gap suggests a bid to lower the barrier to entry while keeping a premium profile.
Project Moohan features the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, two micro-OLED displays with a 90 Hz refresh rate, twelve cameras, and an external battery pack. The device runs a special Android XR version developed by Google.
All told, Samsung is positioning itself to make a strong play in mixed and virtual reality, pairing solid hardware with competitive pricing and a credible challenge to the category’s frontrunners.
