Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 10a, a smartphone that blends the affordability of the A-series with modern features previously reserved for pricier models. It packs a Tensor G4 processor and Titan M2 security coprocessor, 8GB of RAM, and a 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3000 nits, making it one of the brightest screens in the mid-range segment.
The main camera features a 48MP sensor with an f/1.7 lens, while the ultrawide module offers 13MP and a 120-degree field of view. The front camera is also 13MP with a 96.1-degree angle. The Pixel 10a is dust- and water-resistant with an IP68 rating and sports the latest Gorilla Glass 7i on its screen.
A 5,100 mAh battery delivers up to 30 hours of typical use or up to 120 hours in Extreme Battery Saver mode, supporting wired charging up to 30W and wireless charging up to 10W. Running Android 16, the phone will receive security, OS, and Pixel Drop feature updates for seven years, keeping it current until 2033. It supports Google Gemini AI features, including Gemini Live, Camera Coach framing suggestions, and automatic best-shot selection for group photos. The device also includes a satellite connectivity function for emergency assistance in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi.
In practice, the Pixel 10a introduces a new design: the rear camera panel sits flush with the body, ensuring the phone lies flat on surfaces and slips easily into pockets. Available in 128GB and 256GB storage options, it comes in four colors: Lavender, Berry, Misty, and Obsidian. Overall, this makes it the most eco-friendly A-series phone to date, with a body made from 100% recycled aluminum and a battery using recycled cobalt.
Despite these upgrades, the Pixel 10a starts at $499, positioning it as an attractive choice for buyers seeking modern features and Google AI capabilities without the premium of the Pixel 10. The new display, enhanced brightness, improved durability, and AI-powered camera features make it a strong contender in the mid-range market, effectively narrowing the gap between the A-series and flagship models.
The Pixel 10a is available for pre-order starting today, with official sales launching on March 5.
